5 Resources For Your Spiritual Deconstruction

These are a few of the resources that have served me in my deconstruction, and I hope they encourage you, too.

The Message Bible was my constant companion in the early months of my deconstruction. I love how upfront and unabashed The Message translation is. I needed that boldness when my hurt and questions felt bigger than my faith. I believe The Message will bring comfort to you as well.

Writing this devotional helped me heal a bit more as I reflected on the past ten years of deconstruction. I may be a little biased, but my deepest prayer is that my devotional will be a companion for you as you walk through your deconstruction. Inside, I share personal stories from my spiritual abuse and church hurt, along with what the Bible has to say about the behavior we’ve experienced.

Nicole's book helped me fall back in love with God again. My devotion had been misplaced for so long. The way Nicole walks through some of the main characters of Scripture with humanness while weaving her own faith journey through the book was encouraging to me. The way she articulates God’s love was healing for me.

Taking God at His word was the core struggle of my deconstruction. Trying to reconcile what I had been taught and experienced at church with what Scripture says was my process. Hayley is an encouraging guide into making the conscious choice to believe what God says is true and, in that process, replace the lies with the life God has for us.

Finding my home in Jesus is the best thing that has happened to me. I had to lay down my pain and shame to find that home and experience God's love and transformation. In this book, Andrew uses the parable of the Prodigal Son to help us see how we relate to the Prodigal, Bitter Brother, and Loving Father to help us face our pain and love the people around us.
